"The true Mason is a thoughtful, kind, and considerate man, ever ready to interpret in the most charitable way the actions of his brethren and to forgive their failures."

- Albert Mackey, Masonic Jurisprudence

Our Work

The earliest known Masonic texts, referred to as the "Old Charges" or "Gothic Constitutions," dated from around 1390 to the mid-1700s. These writings detail a mason’s obligations to God, his employer, his family, and society. Rev. Dr. James Anderson later distilled these principles in the 1723 introduction to the "Book of Constitutions." For operative masons, the "Old Charges" included helping fellow masons by providing a few weeks of work and shelter. In speculative Masonry, they encouraged aiding those in need and practicing charity toward all people. In keeping with these traditions, here are some of the organizations Huachuca Lodge No. 53 supports in our local community.

Charity New

"One of the biggest myths about Freemasonry is that you need to be invited to join, when in reality, you must ask to become a member."

Grants for Teachers

Each year, The Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of Arizona proudly award grants to schools and educators across the state as part of our ongoing commitment to supporting youth education. Our goal is to empower teachers and enrich the learning experience for students, fostering growth and development in Arizona's classrooms. If you are a teacher who is interested in funding a project for your classroom, then this grant is for you. This year we gave out over $2,500 in classroom grants and we hope to be able to give out more next year.

In addition to classroom grants, we also recognize outstanding students through the Student Community Service Award. This award honors students who go above and beyond to support and strengthen their school and community. Public school employees can nominate deserving students who demonstrate exceptional dedication and a passion for helping others. If selected, the winning student will receive a cash award, which they can use for anything they like. This year we awarded over $1,000 to students nominated by their teachers.

Bikes for Books

Huachuca Lodge No. 53 is proud to support youth literacy in our community through the Bikes for Books program! This initiative encourages students to develop a love for reading while offering a fun and exciting incentive—a brand-new bike!

Each year, our Lodge partners with local schools to reward students who meet their reading goals. By participating in this program, students not only enhance their literacy skills but also earn a chance to win a bike, helping to foster a lifelong love of learning.

Attention Local Schools: If your school is interested in joining the Bikes for Books program, we would love to collaborate with you! Please reach out to Huachuca Lodge No. 53 for more information on how your school can get involved. Together, we can make a positive impact on student achievement and promote literacy in our community.
